Pedro Gonzalez is a Tech for Impact computer science student. Working at the intersection of AI, cybersecurity, computer science, and social impact.

Pedro serves as the Outreach Officer for the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Club and is actively involved in both the Cyber Intelligence & Security Organization (CISO) and the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). He contributes computational resources to distributed computing projects supporting global biomedical research and was a research intern with the ACTION NSF AI Institute at UC Santa Barbara, where he developed RedactBench, the first automated framework for LLM-based redactions.

He was also part of Ride Splits, a student-led initiative at CSUSB focused on connecting commuters, lowering transportation costs, and reducing carbon emissions. Previously, Pedro served as the College of Natural Sciences Director for Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) and as a Senior Science Buddy, supporting CSUSB STEM students as they transitioned into university life, became involved on campus, and accessed relevant resources.

Pedro participated in Caltech Up Close (2021), a prestigious program for students from historically underserved STEM backgrounds, and is a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Finalist as well as a Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Scholarship recipient. He is a continuous learner who serves his community both in and out of the classroom.

Driven by purpose and resilience, Pedro is committed to empowering underrepresented students in STEM and demonstrating that exceptional talent comes from public universities and underserved communities. He doesn’t pursue fancy events or titles—he prioritizes students and real impact.
